Coquecigrues, an imaginative motif, printed with the woodblock technique in the Oberkampf factory in Jouy-en-Josas, around 1792, was the starting point for a contemporary creation by artist Christian Astuguvieille. He loves to edit the Toile de Jouy codes and combine them with his own imagery, which he calls 'imaginary writing'. The Toile de Jouy motif appears intermittently, as do the historic geometric backgrounds of the famous factory, below the lines drawn with India ink and a brush created by the artist. The original document has been preserved in the Toile de Jouy Museum in Jouy-en-Josas.
