Coquecigrues, a fanciful motif, printed using the woodblock technique in the Oberkampf factory in Jouy-en-Josas, around 1792, served as the starting point for a contemporary creation by artist Christian Astuguevieille. He loves to reinterpret and combine the Toile de Jouy codes with his own visual language, which he calls 'imaginary writing.' The Toile de Jouy motif appears intermittently, just like the historical geometric backgrounds of the famous factory, under the lines drawn with Indian ink and a brush made by the artist. The original document has been preserved in the Toile de Jouy Museum in Jouy-en-Josas.
