Gustav was found in poor condition, making it difficult to date, but English Heritage archivists hold it to the mid to late 18th century. The scale of the pattern is reminiscent of a large damask design, but the subdued color schemes, adapted for 'Archive Trails', allow this wallpaper to cover an entire room without overwhelming it.
